Self Portrait Dancing (after Jonas Mekas)

An ongoing series of videos where I hold the camera in my hand while I'm dancing. I was inspired by a couple of Jonas Mekas films from his 365 Films project where, late at night, on his own, he plays music, dances, and films himself at the same time. As an artist, my aim is always to let people be voyeurs of my greatest ecstasies, and there are none greater than dancing.

Being an unreformed old-skool raver, I've always danced a hybrid of liquid, and popping/locking, and I keep the beat with my hands, because all my first raves were so dark you couldn't really see anything, and so I made trails and patterns with my arms to trip myself out. I reckoned that the beat driven arm movements would work well with the little handheld digital camera. These are the results.
