original, eBay auction opens May 30, 2005
Upon learning through correspondence with an agent of the Mondrian/Holtzman Irrevocable Trust (the Mondrian estate) that the copyright for 'Broadway Boogie Woogie' is no longer enforceable in Canada, and in honour of Pac-Mondrian's first international exhibition and US debut in the William Fox Gallery of New York City's Museum of the Moving Image, the Prize Budget for Boys commissioned Canada Post to produce a commemorative 50c stamp designed by Standing Member Ian Hooper with inspiration from the Netherlands 1994 Mondrian stamp, certain to delight all serious Philatelists.
The .jpgs submitted by Designer Ian Hooper to the Canadian Bank Note Company were clean 150 dpi high resolution images which were resampled by the Canadian Bank Note Company adding artefacts to the art to achieve the same effect as if the stamps were printed through a screen door. As errorist devotees of the residue of digital processing, the stamps are a PBFB glitch art masterpiece. The Master Proofs were enthusiastically endorsed by designer Ian Hooper with his signature in ink and returned to the Canadian Bank Note Company to begin production. The design of the Canadian Bank Note sheet was conceived by Steven Spazuk and Jean-Francois Renaud, with photography by Adrien Duey.
The Master Proofs are issued on a sheet containing a single oversized master stamp in a decorative frame, accompanied by 20 standard postage stamps. The Master Proof is the only completely printed full sheet of stamps issued in a format suitable for hanging.
Included with the Master Proofs is the single issue Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Ian Hooper and embossed with the Prize Budget for Boys legal seal.
